Most of the Kerry League fixtures became victims of the inclement weather at the weekend with only 4 games going ahead as scheduled in Kerry and the other was played in Ballina in County Mayo.

In a rearranged Premier B game Tralee Dynamos played host to AC Athletic with the pitch at Cahermoneen in very good condition for the game.

As anticipated Dynamos had most of the play in this game but they found Athletic a tough nut to crack. Dynamos were playing into a very strong wind in the first half but they adapted there tactics well keeping the ball on the ground and making the opposition work very hard to get possession.

After a period of sustained pressure they opened their account in the 9th minute with a well manufactured score. Theo Diggins took the ball out of defense released it to James Sugrue who made a lot of ground from midfield. He then put a fine ball through for Eddie Duggan and he displayed his finishing prowess by putting it well out of the reach of the A C keeper.

AC’s main threat was from over the top balls to John Mike Dooley and John Paul Leahy but they were being caught offside on a regular basis.

However the Dynamos back four were caught napping in the 37th minute when John Paul Leahy put John Mike Dooley through with a fine over the top ball and the lethal striker showed great composure to draw the advancing keeper and tuck the ball into the corner of the net for a fine equalising goal.

Dynamos response was instantaneous and deadly with Billy Stack sending Eddie Duggan clear down the right wing where he made a lot of ground and just inside the box he released a thunderous shot which AC keeper Cyril Dineen got a hand to but it still found the net.

Three minutes later the A C keeper was very fortunate not to receive a red card when he upended James Sugrue just outside the box when he was right through on goals.

However the referee Kevin O’Regan only brandished a yellow card and David Conway sent the resulting free kick over the bar.

Dynamos looked very comfortable at half time 2 - 1 ahead with the gale to their backs in the second half.

They continued to dictate affairs in the second half distributing the ball very effectively and playing some very good football in the process.

Early in the second half A C squandered a great chance of equalizing when a free kick by Conor Diggins reached Eamon Fitzgerald on the verge of the small box but he shot wide from just six yards.

Now Dynamos were in complete control but despite all their possession they were finding it hard to breach a rock solid A C rearguard.

Indeed AC had a chance of equalizing in the 63rd minute when a Shane Harty corner found Eamon Fitzgerald with a good bit of space on the verge of the small box but he shot wide of the target.

Now Dynamos introduced Padraig Mc Cannon instead for Jason Fitzgerald and Adrian Mc Hugh for Eddie Duggan and they were posing a bigger threat up front.

Padraig McCannon could have put Dynamos further ahead when he set up by David Conway but he shot over the bar from seven yards.

However Dynamos made sure of all three points in the 85th minute when David Conway got the ball down the right wing and sent in a low cross in the direction of Adrian Mc Hugh who dummied the ball leaving Padraig McCannon with an easy tap-in.

It was another impressive display by Dynamos who are playing the best football in the league this season.
